At LaLa Media, we believe stories have the power to inspire, heal, and brighten the world - one page at a time. Founded by Mel and Gary LaFreniere, our mission is to create books and projects that celebrate love, identity, and authenticity.

Together for more than 27 years, we’ve raised two incredible adult children in the LGBTQ+ community who continue to shape how we see the world and the kinds of stories we tell. Their courage and creativity inspire our work every day, reminding us that stories aren’t just entertainment — they’re a way of building belonging, hope, and joy.

We’re here for the dreamers, the doers, and the readers who believe a book doesn’t just fill a shelf or screen, but opens a door.

Mel is a writer, creator, and lifelong storyteller who believes that words can change the way we see ourselves and the world around us. Her children’s stories carry messages of love and acceptance, while her personal essays explore the humor, heartbreak, and triumphs of real life.
