I've wanted to see Pompeii since I was a kid reading about it in a textbook. A city just... frozen in time. So when it was only 90 minutes from Rome, it was never a question. What I didn't expect? Chariot tracks still carved into the streets. Eighty street food stands. Entire houses with frescoes still on the walls. Pompeii is not what you think it is… it’s so much better.

Awww, just look at them… dozens of cats sprawled across 2,000-year-old Roman ruins, completely unbothered, soaking up the sun like they've got nowhere to be. This is Torre Argentina Cat Sanctuary, and it might just be the most unexpectedly adorable spot in all of Rome. Oh, and casual detail, it's also where Julius Caesar was assassinated. Only in Rome!
